Dr. Smith has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 40 years and has owned Bay Road Animal Hospital since 1980. He has over three decades of veterinary experience, treating small animals such as dogs, cats, birds, and exotic pets.
Dr. Smith was born and raised in Philadelphia. After graduating high school, he attended nearby Ursinus College in Collegeville, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1969. After completing his undergraduate work, he attended the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in the class of 1973.
Dr. Nan Rosenberry earned her veterinary degree from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Boston. She also has a BS from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Dr. Rosenberry has lived in Florida and worked at Bay Road Animal Hospital since 1999. She and her husband, Steve, have a daughter, Allison. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Rosenberry was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras and has traveled extensively in Central and South America. She has also lived in Idaho, California, Connecticut, and the Washington, DC area. Dr. Rosenberry is interested in all aspects of canine and feline medicine and surgery.
Dr. Dana Tashjian received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to that, she went to University of Maryland where she received her BS in Zoology. Dr Tashjian completed a 1-year veterinary rotational internship at California Veterinary Specialists in San Diego after finishing school. She stayed in San Diego and practiced medicine for 8 years after that. Dr Tashjian has been practicing part time at Bay Road Animal Hospital since moving to Florida in 2015, and came on full time in 2020. Dr Tashjian and her husband share their home with 4 very spirited kitties. In her free time, she loves to exercise and travel
Most of you will recognize Jenna, as she is the one who greets you and your pet first. She is a veterinary assistant for Dr. Rosenberry, but you will also find Jenna helping the front staff or assisting during surgeries. She has been employed with Bay Road since 2004. When she is not working she loves spending time with her pets and family.
Carolyn has been with Bay Road since 2008. You will always find Carolyn with a smile on her face and ready to face any challenge that may come up. She loves working as a Vet Assistant and says her favorite part of her job is everything! Carolyn has one pet of her own, a Pug named Harvey. When she is not at work, she enjoys being with her husband and two boys. They all enjoy spending quality time together, fishing, and swimming.

Desirae started working at Bay Road Animal Hospital as a receptionist in August 2020 and is very excited to greet every client and patient that comes to our hospital. Desirae is a Michigan native and enjoys the snow. She has always had a passion for animals since she was a young girl. She is the proud pet mama to her Bull Terrier mix Samson and her three domestic shorthair cats named Prince and Charlie and Jackson. Desirae is currently attending school and is working towards finishing her A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology. After graduation, she would like to work as a veterinary technician while furthering her education.

Jenn joined the Bay Road team in mid-2021. She has a bachelors in business administration from Stetson University and her long term goal is to continue her education to become a canine behaviorist. She has already taken steps to achieve this goal and has her certification as a dog trainer (CPDT-KA) and has been training professionally for the last five years. She has a lab mix named Yorick and has a unique hobby of playing the bagpipes in her spare time.
Missy first started at Bay Road Animal Hospital in 2003. She took the last few years off to pursue an interest in a specialty practice but rejoined the Bay Road team in early 2022. Missy received her AS Degree in veterinary technology from Penn Foster in 2013. With her many years of experience and advanced skill set she effortlessly moved up into our Head CVT position in August. When Missy is not working, she loves spending her time training her horses, participating in rodeos and spending time with her family.
Gabby joined the Bay Road team in early 2022 as a veterinary assistant. She recently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Penn Foster and is now working as a veterinary technician. Gabby lives on a small farm east of Sarasota and has a variety of pets ranging from dogs, cats and guinea pigs to sheep and goats to even a gecko named Chip. When Gabby is not working, she loves spending time with her family and friends.
Bailey joined the Bay Road team in the fall of 2021. She currently holds the role of veterinary technician assistant. Her goal is to become a veterinary technician in the near future as she continues to grow in knowledge and skill here at Bay Road Animal Hospital. Bailey earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of South Florida in 2021. When she is not spending time with her cat, Linus, she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors.
